What reasonably priced bike trainer would you recommend as well?

You can get one from Walmart. You may have to change the rear tire to something smoother.

As above, just fit a slick rear tyre.
Or better still put on your lights and cold weather clothes and go cycling !

Yes you can, just make sure you get a good smooth tire to replace the knobby. If you don’t the noise the knobby tire will make will be very loud. If you have had a road bike in the trainer you will need to make an adjustment to the contact roller as there will be a gap.

Yes. I have a minoura indoor trainer. What makes it different is that is a rim drive. There are two separate rollers that clamp down on your rim via braking surface. It is very nice and quiet. It was a little spendy, about 250 dollars. I use it with my road bike and MTB. Its nice not to have to change tires to a slick. I hope this helps. Peace

Sure. You just need to put a slick tire on the rear wheel to drive the roller. Alternately, there are trainers the use your wheel rim rather than the the tire to drive the resistance unit, but they are more expensive, and trickier to mount and set up.
